Timeline
The journey of CocoWeave
-
Travel to Vietnam
We were together in Vietnam for the third time. Visited family and made beautiful trips. We saw huge amounts of coconuts and Stefan wondered; what can you actually make of that? -
Do research
Many different products are made locally from coconut. Oil, milk, sweets, cosmetics, charcoal and therefore also woven fiber rope. After some research we saw that they use it to make doormats, walkways, bags and therefore also shade sails. -
Factory visit
We found out through family that there were many coconut processing factories in the area. We made contact and after half an hour's drive we passed several factories in Bến Tre, the coconut capital of Vietnam.
-
Production process
We were given a tour of the factory and an explanation about the different production processes. We looked at various products and were most enthusiastic about the shade sails. -
First container on its way
There is a wide range of shade sails on the market, but these are often plastic variants. We identified a gap in the market for an environmentally friendly alternative and seized the opportunity. The first container is now on its way; many more are expected to follow.
